In 1998, Johnnie Bolin and Bolin fans from across the country had a dream to develop a charitable foundation in memory of the late Tommy Bolin. This goal was realized in 2001, when the Bolin Foundation was incorporated as a non-profit entity in the State of Iowa. The IRS has since recognized the Bolin Foundation as a charitable organization according to Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Tommy Bolin Memorial Scholarship:

The charitable purpose of the Bolin Foundation is to hold fund raising concerts in memory of Tommy Bolin and to donate the profits from these concerts to enhance the musical education programs of area schools. To date, thousands of dollars have been donated to Iowa Schools by the Bolin Foundation.
